Zip US is working with Google Cloud to build an AI-Native Product Factory using Gemini Enterprise. The company plans to change how it creates, tests and launches products in the US.
Listed on the ASX, Zip is a buy now, pay later (BNPL) provider serving consumers in the US, Australia and New Zealand.
According to Zip, financial services firms typically develop products in stages, with each team passing work to the next.
As a result, every handoff adds weeks, and each launch largely starts from scratch.
The Product Factory seeks to replace this sequence with a shared, governed AI environment.
Within it, research, design, engineering, risk, legal and compliance teams can work in parallel.
Zip expects to pursue several ideas at once, launch sooner and gradually lower the cost of new products.

“Every product we build creates reusable intelligence and capabilities that make the next product faster and better,”
said Rory Herriman, Chief Technology and Operating Officer at Zip US.

“Agentic commerce is changing the way consumers discover and purchase products, which requires a rewiring of how financial services are delivered so AI agents can interact at scale,”
said Georgina Bulkeley, Managing Director and Global Financial Services Industries Lead at Google Cloud.
Gemini Enterprise will also support Zip’s internal AI environment, where agents work alongside employees.
Zip is building security, governance, traceability and human oversight into how these agents operate.
In addition, Zia, Zip’s customer-facing AI assistant, will run on the same platform.
As Zia evolves, specialised agents will work together to resolve more complex requests.
Separately, Zip co-created the Unified Trust Layer, an open-source framework to make trust measurable and portable in AI-initiated commerce.
