Attekus has partnered with Fat Zebra to add card and digital wallet payments to its booking software.
Councils, universities and venues use it to take bookings and sell tickets.
For years, these bodies have taken payments through their banks. However, those bank gateways sit outside their booking systems.
Under the new setup, customers can book and pay in one checkout. Through Attekus Card Payments, residents can pay by card when they book a council hall.
Similarly, students can use it to book campus venues. Ticket buyers at government-run theatres have the same option.
Fat Zebra provides the payment system behind the service. In addition, Apple Pay and Google Pay are available through an add-on, Attekus Digital Payments.
Card Payments will be the default for new clients. Meanwhile, existing clients can choose whether to switch.
According to Attekus, more than 140 councils and other bodies across Australia and New Zealand use its software. Both firms are backed by Five V Capital.
The firms link the partnership to changing payment habits. For example, Attekus says more than half of its customers use smartphones to book, register for events and buy tickets.

“It’s about making the final step of the customer journey feel as modern and intuitive as the rest of it,
while giving organisations a payment capability that is more closely connected to the way they already manage bookings, events and customers,”
said Peter Suchting, CEO of Attekus.

“Bringing payments into the same platform means fewer systems for these organisations to manage and a faster checkout for the people paying them,”
said Kyle Willersdorf, Head of Sales and Partnerships at Fat Zebra.
