Westpac has appointed Richard Heeley as its new Chief Information Officer. Heeley joins from Macquarie Group and will oversee the bank’s technology infrastructure, cyber security, and engineering capabilities.
He will replace outgoing Chief Information Officer Scott Collary, who will retire later this year.
Heeley currently serves as Chief Information Officer for Banking and Financial Services at Macquarie Group.
His previous experience includes senior technology roles at Nationwide Building Society, Barclays, and JP Morgan Chase in the United Kingdom.
In his new role, Heeley will partner with Westpac’s UNITE, data, digital, and artificial intelligence teams.

“Richard is a proven technology leader who understands how to lead large-scale digital transformation in retail banking,”
said Anthony Miller, Chief Executive Officer, Westpac.
“He has deep experience building and running critical platforms at scale, and he knows what it takes to simplify systems, improve resilience and deliver a first-class digital banking experience for customers.”
The appointment is part of Westpac’s ongoing effort to modernise its core systems and strengthen its cyber security posture.

“Westpac has strong foundations and a clear plan to simplify and modernise the bank,”
said Richard Heeley, incoming Chief Information Officer, Westpac.
“My priority is taking an already great customer offering and making it the best digital banking experience in the market.”
