BitMart has secured an Australian Financial Services License (AFSL). The authorisation brings the cryptocurrency exchange under Australia’s new Digital Assets Framework, subjecting it to the same regulatory standards as traditional financial institutions.
The license was granted following the passage of the Corporations Amendment (Digital Assets Framework) Act 2026.
The legislation received Royal Assent in April 2026 and classifies eligible digital asset platforms as financial products regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Under the licensing requirements, BitMart must implement consumer safeguards including client asset segregation and transparent product disclosures.
The company must also provide users with access to external dispute resolution through the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
The licensing aligns BitMart with global standards established by the Financial Action Task Force and peer regulatory regimes in the European Union, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

“Earning this license reflects our long-term commitment to operating at the highest standards of consumer protection and compliance,”
said Nenter Chow, Global CEO, BitMart.
“As an internationally recognised standard, the AFSL strengthens our banking relationships and gives us a credible, globally compliant platform to offer more diversified products and services.”
The company intends to use the regulatory foundation to expand its offerings in tokenised real-world assets.
BitMart will also expand its local compliance, legal, and operational teams to support its growth in the Australian market.
