Coinbase Australia has launched perpetual contracts for eligible wholesale investors, expanding its local offering beyond spot cryptocurrency and stablecoins.
The rollout marks the first product introduced under the company’s Australian Financial Services License (AFSL), which it received from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in April 2026.
Certified wholesale investors can now access 150 perpetual contracts across cryptocurrency, equity and commodity assets, with leverage of up to 50 times on eligible contracts.
The product includes advanced order types, API integration and 24/7 market access.
Coinbase said the offering targets sophisticated investors seeking tools to hedge portfolios, manage volatility exposure and implement capital-efficient trading strategies.
The exchange aims to provide a regulated pathway for eligible Australian investors accessing crypto derivatives markets.
The AFSL allows Coinbase Australia to offer derivatives services under Australia’s financial services regulatory framework.
The exchange described the launch as the first step towards expanding its licensed product suite in the Australian market.
