Users in Australia can now send money to China through Western Union without leaving Weixin or WeChat.

The money transfer company developed the Mini Program with TenPay Global, Tencent’s cross-border payment platform.

Users can access it through the platform’s Discover tab, search function, chats or nearby listings without downloading a separate application.

Customers must register and complete a one-time identity check using an Australian driver’s licence or passport.

They can then add a recipient, choose a payout method and pay by bank transfer, debit card or credit card.

Funds are typically available within minutes, according to Western Union.
