RealNZ has signed a MoU with Weixin Pay to expand digital payment acceptance across its tourism services in New Zealand.
The agreement connects cross-border payment services with destination discovery and booking for Chinese mainland visitors, according to a company announcement.
The tourism operator currently uses Weixin Mini Program ticket-booking capabilities and accepts Weixin Pay at selected locations.
Under the expanded agreement, RealNZ will build a more integrated digital pathway that combines Weixin Channels for content discovery, Mini Programs for booking, and Weixin Pay for transaction processing and offer redemption.
Outbound travel from China is increasing, prompting the collaboration to reduce payment barriers and improve campaign conversion.
By connecting these tools, RealNZ aims to establish a structured model for serving Chinese visitors through a single digital ecosystem.
The partnership will introduce new interactive marketing mechanisms this year. These include social group-based campaigns that offer cashback and exchange-rate benefits to drive visitor engagement and in-trip conversion.

“New Zealand’s South Island is home to a rich range of tourism experiences, and China remains an important visitor market for the local tourism industry,”
said Dave Beeche, CEO of RealNZ.
Beeche noted the cooperation will make it easier for Chinese visitors to discover experiences while helping local businesses reach this demographic.

“Payment plays an important role in shaping the overall travel experience,”
added Monica Zheng, Oceania Regional Director of Weixin Pay.
“By leveraging the integrated capabilities of Mini Programs, Weixin Channels and Weixin Pay, and introducing new features such as social invitation campaigns and cash rebates, we aim to make the exploration of natural wonders more fun, convenient and interactive.”
Looking ahead, both entities plan to deepen their cooperation across RealNZ’s South Island operations to support a digital-first travel journey.
