Zeller has launched a new POS app for SMBs, expanding its offerings into core business operations software.
The cloud-based POS system runs on iOS and Android devices. It integrates directly with receipt printers, cash drawers, and the company’s own payment terminals.
Zeller designed the software to consolidate payment acceptance, menu management, and real-time sales reporting into a single platform for merchant operations.
Targeting software subscription costs
The company is positioning the product as a cost-saving alternative to global providers like Square, Shopify, and Lightspeed.
Zeller estimates that an average Australian retail or hospitality business spends up to $17,000 annually on point-of-sale software, hardware, and payment infrastructure.
To lower these fixed costs, the Zeller POS app does not charge a software subscription fee. Instead, the company operates on a pay-as-you-go model.
Merchants pay a transaction fee on card and mobile wallet payments processed via a paired Zeller Terminal, though hardware costs still apply.

“Merchants using Zeller benefit from a consolidated view of their payments, accounts and spending,”
said Ben Pfisterer, Co-Founder and CEO of Zeller.
Pfisterer noted that merchants have long struggled with expensive pricing, restrictive contracts, and limited support from foreign providers who have neglected the local market.
He added that real-time data from the POS integration will allow businesses to optimise their finances and grow faster.
AI features and integrations
Zeller also introduced an artificial intelligence tool, Zeller AI Assist, which it embedded within the merchant dashboard.
The assistant currently helps users navigate platform features, with future updates planned to analyse sales performance and provide financial insights.
Because the system unifies payments and operational data, the company expects the AI tool to reduce reliance on manual reporting from disconnected platforms.
The new software includes an automatic item import feature, which the company claims can reduce setup time from days to minutes.
The POS app has already undergone testing with local businesses over the past two months.
Alongside its proprietary software, Zeller maintains direct integrations with other POS providers, including Oracle Simphony, Triniteq, and Impos.
