The New South Wales Government has appointed PayPal as a key digital wallet option for its agencies.
This follows a competitive tender process.
The new whole-of-government agreement enables agencies across the state to offer PayPal as an additional digital payment method.
This will apply to a wide range of public services.
The NSW Government’s decision reflects PayPal’s established record in reliability, trust, and continued investment in data security and consumer protection.
The company currently has 9.5 million active accounts in Australia, representing nearly 60% of adults in New South Wales.
Each year, NSW Government agencies process more than 140 million payments.
Under this agreement, agencies will be able to integrate PayPal into their existing digital payment systems.
This may allow parents to pay for school excursions, families to settle medical invoices, and visitors to purchase entry to state-run venues using a payment method they already use.
Simon Banks, Managing Director of PayPal Australia, said the collaboration supports broader efforts to improve public sector payment experiences.

“This agreement underscores our mission to make payments simpler, safer, and more flexible. We applaud the NSW Government for their leading approach to digital innovation and look forward to supporting them in delivering seamless digital service delivery for people across the state.”
The partnership expands PayPal’s presence in Australia.
Moreoever, it aligns with the NSW Government’s broader digital transformation plans.
Participating agencies will now begin integration work.
Agencies are expected to roll out PayPal across government services in stages.
